How to Hold Title

There are different ways of holding title on a property that carry different legal, tax, and estate implications. Even more so when selling the property or upon the death of a title holder. As one of the last steps in the home buying process, the title company will have you sign the final documents. Once complete the title company will record the transaction on your behalf at the County Assessor’s Office. At this time you’ve officially become the new owner! You may want to consult an attorney or professional tax advisor to determine the best way to hold title based on your unique situation.
